Stunningly Great - Pink is the Real Deal
I hadn't given much thought to Julia Wolf until last fall when my wife had me download Funhouse for her. When she came to Dallas, we went. The show was blow-away good. Was totally hooked - one of the best albums I've heard in years. Even without the stage craft - which was astounding - the musical talent on display was amazing. I just hoped there wouldn't be lip-synch. Her backing band was real. Set list was solid. Her vocals were superb. I had heard hype about the show, but largely discounted it. Loved the use of covers - quite scary how close she sounded to Freddie Mercury on "Bohemian Rhapsody". Only bummer was that the show started a bit late, so we had to leave after her cover of "Crazy" to get home since the Sitter had to leave. Not sure why she has chosen not to tour heavily in the US, so if you get the chance to go then go. Could have done without "Dear Mr. President" - song feels increasingly dated + "Crystal Ball", which is the song she replaced to do it, is my #2 song on Funhouse. BTW - this is coming from a metal head whose iPod is filled with Van Halen, Metallica, Judas Priest, Blue Murder, etc. Pink has some serious talent. Enjoy!
